Finding great talent, otherwise known as “hiring right” is a big challenge for businesses of all sizes. LM Foods is no different.
What is different is that we are tinkering with new methods to increase our overall success rate. One thing that has made a difference? Increasing the pool of available candidates. We started using Indeed.
It became pretty obvious that we were drinking from the fire hose: Too many qualified candidates for any given position!
This a GOOD problem to have. Let’s assume you CAN keep up and are able to screen, interview and whittle the pile down to a select few individuals for a given position……how do you make the call on who gets the nod?
Here’s a couple of pictures.
A flat tire. “Car Problems.” The number one reason why people don’t show up to interviews. A crazy number of people fell victim to this.
What’s this? SWEAT!
One candidate also had car problems. But we only knew that because he apologized at the start of his interview for sweating.
And so does an opportunity to join our team.
We did make one mistake with this candidate that made this extraordinary effort. We told him he would hear from us at the end of the week with a decision after we are through with the rest of our interviews. Than we realized 3 hours later saying how crazy this was. It’s a fun phone call when you tell someone your wrong and crazy for letting them wait until the weeks over after that kind of demonstrated Match to Heart & Hustle.
